From March 4-17, 2015, the Montesino Poker Club in the fabulous city of Vienna, Austria, will play host to the WPT Vienna poker festival, which will be highlighted by the €3,300 Main Event taking place March 12-17.
Things will kick off with the €340 Warm-Up, which boasts a €200,000 guarantee, from March 5-9, and then from March 9-12 the €1,100 8-Max will take place. That will be followed by other events such as €550 Pot-Limit Omaha, €6,000 High Roller, and a €220 Accumulator Turbo.
Day 1a of the partypoker WPT €3,300 Main Event will take place on March 12. The second starting flight will take place the following day on March 13, and players are allowed one reentry per day. The event will conclude on March 17 and will feature a streamed webcast of the action. Each participant will begin with 30,000 in tournament chips. Levels will be 60 minutes long on Day 1 and 90 minutes long on Day 2-4. On Day 5, the final day of the event, the levels will revert back to 60 minutes in length.
’World Poker Tour Vienna 2015 will be one of the biggest events ever held at the Montesino Poker Club with combined estimated prize pools up to €2,500,000,’ commented Karl Novak, CEO of the Montesino Vienna. ’As well as hosting such a prestigious and renowned poker brand, what is extra special about this festival is the wide variety of buy-ins offering huge prize pools. After three successful events previously, WPT Vienna will return to Austria from March 4-17. The Montesino anticipates the European poker elite to attend. We want to succeed in smashing the numbers this year to make WPT Vienna 2015 the most successful WPT event ever in Austria. Players can qualify in our live satellites at the Montesino and many more poker casinos in Austria.’
Of course we hope you’ll be busy playing poker, but if you find yourself either on the rail or with a little free time, we thought it’d be worthwhile to offer you four things to do while at the WPT Vienna.
Visit the Nachmarkt
Anyone can hit a tourist shop for souvenirs, but if you want to discover some one-of-a-kind items, visit Naschmarkt, a flea market that is truly one of the most eclectic spots in Vienna. There are food stalls, flowers, and knick knacks galore. The market is open from 6 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 6 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, which is by far the busiest day.
See the City in a Unique Way
Vienna is a big place, and there’s a lot to see. One way to take it all in is via Segway. Pedal Power, a company specializing in Segway tours, offers daily three-hour tours, which are limited to 8-10 persons, beginning at 2 p.m. The tour not only offers a ton of historical knowledge, but offers fun photo ops throughout the city.
(Editor’s note: Taking a Segway tour was one of the highlights of my trip to Vienna, and I can’t recommend it highly enough.)
Grab a Drink at Alcazar Cocktailbar
Voted the number one bar in Vienna by USA Today 10Best, Alcazar Cocktailbar, which is located between the State Opera House and Karlsplatz subway station, offers patrons a selection of more than 250 cocktails. Open from 7 p.m.-2 a.m., Alcazar Cocktailbar is a little pricey, but there are few places as classy and more relaxed.
Forget the London Eye, Check Out Wiener Riesenrad
Vienna has its fair share of landmarks, and one of them is Wiener Riesenrad, a 19th-century giant Ferris wheel. It’s like the London Eye and Vegas’ High Roller, but much older. Built by British engineer Walter Basset in 1897, the wheel features 15 wooden gondolas. Hop on board and you’ll do a full circle in 20 minutes, during which time you’ll get a view of the city second to none — 65 meters (213 feet) up in the air. It’s open daily from 10 a.m.-9:45 p.m., and a ticket is only €8.50. For more information click here.Pedro Poker Tour Vienna Md
